Today’s Weddings 101 post comes from an amazingly talented graphic designer from the DC area, Daidra Briel. I had the absolute pleasure of photographing her wedding last year, and I knew she’d be perfect for a post relating to color. Check out her newly launched website at www.bydaidra.com
Color Inspired by Nature
If you’re planning your wedding you probably know that honeysuckle is the color of the year. Color is beautiful, color is easy and everyone has a favorite. Personally, I believe the color of your wedding is not the most important choice. I think it’s more about your style; your personality and the feeling that you want to evoke. When you figure out your theme the colors will fall into place.
To prove that color is really secondary I am going to show you how honeysuckle can be incorporated into many different themes based on personality and taste.
So have fun, use your favorite color but realize you can mix and match colors to compliment your own style. Remember there is no rule that says you have to limit yourself to one or two colors, so why would you? If your groom doesn’t want a pink vest and you’re set on the shade come up with secondary colors that compliment and show him how it works. It’s all about compromise. Draw inspiration from nature, typography, architecture and photography. Mix it up and have fun!
I am loving the classic & chic and feminine & flirty colors. A huge thanks to Daidra for sharing her expert advice! As always, if you have any comments or questions leave them below. And if you like what you see, I’d love it if you’d share with your friends by simply choosing one of the icons below. Thanks!
